Azerbaijani, Israeli airlines launch codeshare partnership

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has announced a new partnership with EL AL Israel Airlines, marking the beginning of a codeshare agreement between the two carriers.

"As part of this cooperation, customers of both airlines will be able to take advantage of flights operated by El Al and Azerbaijan Airlines under the codeshare agreement. The El Al airline code (LY) will be added to the flights of Azerbaijan Airlines on the Tel Aviv–Baku route, and in the future, it will also be added to their transit flights,” AZAL said, Caliber.Az reports.

Additionally, members of the Matmid loyalty program, EL AL's frequent flyer initiative, will have the opportunity to accumulate miles on flights to Baku.

“Tickets can be purchased on the official websites of both airlines or through travel agencies," AZAL stated.

To note, AZAL operates direct flights between Baku and Tel Aviv, facilitating travel for both business and tourism. The airline has also collaborated with Israeli carriers such as Israir Airlines and Arkia, which have been granted permission to operate regular flights to Baku, further strengthening air links between Azerbaijan and Israel.
