Azerbaijani-origin soldier missing in Ukraine combat zone
A serviceman of Azerbaijani origin, Zamig Gulmaliyev, has gone missing in Ukraine’s combat zone in Donetsk region.
Gulmaliyev, born in 1982 in Kurdamir district of Azerbaijan, holds Ukrainian citizenship. He went missing during recent fighting in the Donetsk region, with neither his military unit nor his relatives able to establish contact with him for over a week. The news has raised concerns among both his family and the Azerbaijani community in Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
Matlab Najafov, the Chairman of the Ivano-Frankivsk Congress of Azerbaijanis, where Gulmaliyev had been residing, confirmed the situation. In a statement, Najafov revealed that the city’s military commissariat had officially informed the Congress about the loss of contact with the serviceman while he was on the front line.
Efforts to locate Gulmaliyev are ongoing, but at present, his whereabouts remain unknown. The situation has left both his family and the broader Azerbaijani community in Ukraine deeply worried.
The missing Azerbaijani serviceman resided in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk, from where he enlisted in the military.
