Azerbaijani police detain 46 Iran-linked drug smugglers PHOTO

Azerbaijani police officers have apprehended 46 persons over drug trafficking in several settlements of the capital Baku.

Detentions took place in the Mardakan, Turkan, Shuvalan, Bina, Shagan and other settlements, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Interior Ministry.

A large quantity of heroin, opium, marijuana and the psychotropic substance methamphetamine was found in the possession of the detainees.

The detainees said they purchased drugs through social media, mainly from Iranian nationals they were not familiar with, to sell them online as well as for personal use.

The investigation into the fact is in progress.
