Azerbaijani president, German chancellor exchange official invitations

Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Friedrich Merz and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev exchanged mutual invitations to visit their respective countries during a telephone conversation on December 4. 

President Aliyev accepted the Chancellor’s invitation to visit Germany, while inviting Friedrich Merz to Azerbaijan, an offer the Chancellor likewise accepted, Caliber.Az reports via Azertag. 

During the call, Chancellor Merz congratulated President Aliyev on the progress made in advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia, reaffirming Germany’s support for stability in the region. 

President Aliyev expressed gratitude for the congratulations and underscored that Azerbaijan is the initiator of regional peace initiatives, reiterating the country’s commitment to ensuring and strengthening lasting peace.

During the telephone conversation, the sides exchanged views on the prospects for bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Germany.
