Azerbaijani researcher in Italy becomes Young European Ambassador
Toghrul Aliyev, PhD, a researcher specialising in international security and political studies and a diaspora activist based in Genoa, Italy, has been selected to join the Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) initiative for the 2026–2027 term.
According to the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, the YEAs initiative was launched in 2016 under the EU-funded Regional Communication Programme for the Eastern Neighbourhood, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The initiative is a non-political, volunteer-driven, and dynamically operating communication network that unites young people from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia, as well as EU member states and the United Kingdom.

The network’s goal is to raise awareness about the EU’s cooperation with the Eastern Partnership countries, support political dialogue on various issues, and promote joint actions for a better future.
Toghrul Aliyev studied in Türkiye and Italy and completed internships in several European countries through the Erasmus+ program. He is actively involved in diaspora projects and, as a member of the Azerbaijan Diaspora Youth Organization, took part in the 6th Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth held in Khankendi.
