Back-to-back magnitude-5.0 quakes jolt southwest China

Two earthquakes measuring magnitude 5.0 struck southwestern China within a short period of time.

The tremors were recorded in Sichuan Province, with the epicentres of both earthquakes located in Gao County of Yibin.

According to preliminary data, the hypocenter of the first earthquake was located at a depth of 8 kilometres.

Authorities have not reported any casualties or significant damage, and no information on injuries or destruction has been received as of the latest updates.
