Bahrain puts armed forces on high alert amid security escalation
Bahrain’s armed forces have been placed on a state of heightened combat readiness, according to a statement from the kingdom’s defence command.
“The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force confirms that all military units and branches are at the highest level of readiness,” the statement said.
The military command also urged citizens and residents to exercise maximum caution and avoid approaching possible debris from intercepted aerial targets.
The increase in readiness follows reports of Iranian strikes on targets in the United Arab Emirates.
According to Emirati military sources, ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones launched from Iranian territory, were intercepted on May 4. The attack by drones on an oil facility in Fujairah resulted in injuries to three foreign nationals.
At the same time, Iranian state media, citing a military source, stated that Tehran “had no plans and currently has no plans to attack the UAE.”
