Baku emergencies event discusses global disaster response strategy VIDEO
The 58th session of the Executive Council of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) officially began in Baku, bringing together top officials from emergency management agencies of ICDO member states.
The two-day event is focused on enhancing international cooperation in disaster prevention and response, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Azerbaijan’s Emergencies Minister, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, underscored the country's commitment to strengthening global partnerships in civil defence. He emphasised the ICDO’s key role in coordinating international efforts to address natural and man-made disasters.
The session also featured remarks from the President of the ICDO Executive Council, Russia’s Minister of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief Alexander Kurenkov, as well as the organization’s Acting Secretary-General, Roman Lapin.
Delegates are expected to deliberate on the ICDO’s medium-term development goals, strategies for deepening international collaboration, and a new action plan aimed at boosting global emergency preparedness.
