Baku Heydar Aliyev Airport introduces groundbreaking aviation technology

Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport has taken a major step forward in aviation innovation.

The airport has integrated the Rapid Recovery System (R2S), a cutting-edge technology developed by ResQtec, into its technical infrastructure, marking a new milestone for Azerbaijan's main international gateway, the airport’s press service told Caliber.Az

The R2S system — widely recognised as the “gold standard” in the global aviation industry — enhances the stability and safety of aircraft ground movements while ensuring smoother flight operations. 

The technology streamlines the entire recovery process into a single step without interruptions, reducing the need for additional intervention and boosting overall operational efficiency. Importantly, the system only activates after passengers have been fully evacuated from the aircraft, prioritising safety.

Heydar Aliyev International Airport is now the only airport in the region to operate this advanced technology. This achievement not only strengthens Azerbaijan’s position as a geographical hub but also establishes it as a highly reliable transit point for international air travel, further enhancing the airport’s appeal for global airlines.

ResQtec solutions are already trusted by top airports around the world—including Toronto, Vienna, Geneva, Tallinn, Ostrava, Changi, and Manas—and major carriers such as Qatar Airways, Air France, Etihad Airways, and Air Canada.
