Balloon festival kicks off in Azerbaijan's Shamakhi PHOTO

The first Balloon Festival started in Shamakhi today.

According to Oxu.Az, the first photos of some of the balloons made for the event have just been distributed. All of them are distinguished by their interesting design.

On June 18, balloons of different colours, shapes and designs will take to the skies over the village Meiseri of Shamakhi region. The flight will cover the historical and modern beauty spots of Shamakhi. The balloons will be piloted by internationally certified pilots. This is an important project in terms of promoting tourism opportunities in the region.

It should be noted that Albuquerque, New Mexico, is home to the biggest hot air balloon festival in the world. Starting off with just 13 balloons in 1972, this 9-day-long October event now pulls in 550 balloons.
