Beijing urges US to stop slandering China

Beijing has urged the US government to stop denigrating China and abandon efforts to contain it.

Member of the State Council, Chinese Defence Minister Wei Fenghe made the statement on June 12 at the Shangri-La Dialogue security conference taking place in Singapore, according to Russia-based news service TASS.

His speech was broadcast on the forum's YouTube channel.

"Persistently pursuing a policy that sees China as a threat, an adversary, and even an enemy, could be a historical and strategic mistake. We demand the US to stop slandering China and stop trying to contain the PRC [People's Republic of China]," he said.
