Beijing, Washington push for swift end to Ukraine war
China and the United States are hoping for a swift end to the conflict in Ukraine and are already taking steps to advance the peace negotiation process, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said following US President Donald Trump’s visit to Beijing.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang stated that Beijing and Washington share similar positions on the issue and support efforts aimed at reaching a political settlement to the conflict.
“Regarding the Ukrainian crisis, China and the United States hope that this conflict will end soon. The two sides have also done a great deal of work to promote peace negotiations,” Wang said.
The Chinese foreign minister stressed that Beijing would continue to encourage dialogue and support international efforts aimed at achieving peace in Ukraine.
Wang’s remarks came after high-level talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Trump in Beijing, during which the two sides discussed a range of international security issues, including the war in Ukraine.
