Belarus begins military drills near border with Lithuania, Poland
Belarus announced the start of exercises of a mechanized brigade at training grounds located near the borders with Poland and Lithuania.
The Ministry of Defence of Belarus stated that this was a command and staff exercise with the 6th separate mechanized brigade in order to work out the management of units in the conduct of hostilities, Evropeyskaya Pravda reports.
The manoeuvres are carried out at the Gozhsky training ground and other areas in the Grodno region, near the border with Poland and Lithuania and the so-called Suwalki corridor - a conditional isthmus of the territory of these NATO member states between Belarus and the Kaliningrad region.
“During the preparation, the experience of a special military operation was actively used (this is how the war against Ukraine is called in the Russian Federation - ed.), namely, the widespread use of UAVs, close interaction of tank and motorized rifle units with units of other branches of the armed forces,” the Belarusian Defence Ministry said.
There is no mention of the participation or non-participation of members of the Wagner PMC in the manoeuvres.
