Belarus blocks major drug supply channel to Russia

Police officers of the Minsk region detained a resident of Mozyr, who was engaged in the supply of psychotropic substances to Russia.

Denis Askoldovich, Deputy Head of the Department for Drug Control and Combating Human Trafficking of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee has made the relevant remarks, TASS reports.

“The operatives of the drug control of the capital region, with the power support of the Almaz Special Anti-Terrorism Unit, blocked a large channel for the supply of psychotropic drugs to Russia,” the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs quotes Askoldovich in the Telegram channel.

According to him, on the territory of the Pukhovichi district, law enforcement officers stopped a car with a resident of Mozyr at the wheel.

“During the inspection of the car, 10 kg of mephedrone was found and seized in the trunk. It was established that the young man worked for a virtual drug market for several months as a wholesale courier, picking up psychotropic drugs in Belarus and transporting them to Russia,” Askoldovich informed.

Belarusian investigators opened a criminal case on this fact for drug trafficking for the purpose of sale.
