Belarus defence minister says West seeks to drag his country into war
Belarusian Defence Minister Viktor Khrenin has stated that the West is trying to drag his country into war with Ukraine.
He said the situation along Belarus’ borders is becoming increasingly escalatory, and attempts are being made to draw the country into the conflict, Caliber.Az reprots, citing Russian media.
“Today we are fully feeling an open attempt to drag Belarus into war,” Khrenin noted.
He added that the security environment near Belarus was “extremely unstable and escalatory in nature,” citing increased NATO military presence and growing defence spending among neighbouring states.
“On the other side of our borders, NATO troop groupings are being strengthened, infrastructure is being improved, military budgets of neighbouring countries are increasing, and loud militaristic statements by politicians are being made,” he stressed.
According to him, efforts are being made to prolong the hot conflict unleashed by the West.
