Belarus eyes major deal with US, Lukashenko says
Belarus is prepared to negotiate a significant agreement with the United States, provided its national interests are fully respected.
Speaking at the meeting on global international developments and Belarus–U.S. relations, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko emphasised that any policy aimed at restoring ties with the U.S. must be guided solely by Belarusian interests, noting that the Americans themselves act primarily out of pragmatic motives, Caliber.Az reports, citing BelTA.
“We will wait for their global proposals, a major deal, as they like to call them (they love these big deals). We are ready for that. We are prepared to conclude a major deal with them. On one side of the scale are their issues, requests, and demands; on the other side are ours. Shall we resolve it? Let’s resolve it. We are ready. I fully assess Donald Trump’s proposals in this regard positively,” Alexander Lukashenko pointed out.
He emphasised that Belarus’s interests must also be taken into account and that everything should be fair, as once agreed with the Americans.
