Belarus leader calls for improved relations with US in message to Trump
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has expressed readiness to work with U.S. President Donald Trump to normalise bilateral relations and support efforts aimed at enhancing global security, according to an official statement released on Saturday, July 4.
In a message marking US Independence Day and the 250th anniversary of the country’s founding, Lukashenko praised the achievements of the American nation and highlighted the significance of the milestone.
“It is impossible not to admire the heights that the American nation has managed to achieve over a path spanning a quarter of a millennium. The Moon landing, breakthroughs in science and medicine significant for all humanity, and major economic achievements — all of these are examples of the determination, hard work and true patriotism of Americans,” the message said.
Lukashenko noted that the anniversary coincides with Trump’s presidency, describing it as a period during which the US leader is making efforts in the interests of his country.
“There have never been contradictions between our peoples, and I, as President of Belarus, am ready to work together to normalise Belarusian-American relations, as well as to support your efforts to make the planet a safer place for our children and grandchildren,” Lukashenko said.
He also extended wishes of peace, happiness and prosperity to Trump and the American people.
