Belarus leader stresses agriculture as key to survival

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said agricultural work must continue regardless of global conflicts, underscoring the importance of farming to the country’s food security and economy.

Speaking as quoted by the “Pul Pervogo” Telegram channel, Lukashenko emphasised that farming remains a national priority even amid international instability.

“If we speak about the mentality of Belarusians, it is deeply ingrained in us that even when the world is shaken by wars and conflicts, and the line between common sense and the madness of certain politicians is almost nonexistent, we need to plough, sow and harvest bread. Because both in wartime and in peacetime, people want to eat, that is the primary need,” he said.

He described the harvest campaign as a key moment in the agricultural cycle, linking it directly to national stability and economic performance.

“The harvest campaign is not only a certain kind of exam, not only the result of the entire annual cycle of work by agricultural workers, but also a firm guarantee of our food security and one of the foundations of export foreign currency earnings. This is a concern of the entire state, not only of farmers. If we have bread, we will live,” Lukashenko added.
