Belarus PM calls for EAEU unity as global economy undergoes shake-up

Member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) should strengthen unity and focus on mutually beneficial solutions in the face of growing global challenges, Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin said.

Speaking at an expanded meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, Turchin stressed the importance of cooperation and consensus as the global economy undergoes major changes, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“Global economy is undergoing a period of large-scale restructuring. The world is steadily moving toward multipolarity, with multiple centers of economic attraction. All these processes are accompanied by upheavals that have a significant impact on the economic climate in our region as well. It is extremely difficult, and sometimes impossible, to deal with these challenges alone. Therefore, solidarity, unity, readiness for cooperation and the search for consensus are more relevant than ever,” he said.

According to Turchin, the current global environment requires EAEU members to avoid isolation and excessive focus on individual national priorities.

The Belarusian prime minister stressed that now is not the time for division or retreating into the “shell of exclusively national interests.”

“I am confident that together we can overcome the most difficult obstacles, and the decisions adopted at today’s meeting will bring us one step closer to this goal,” Turchin added.
