Belarus president raises Iran war issue with US delegation “You are waging a war against our friends”
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, during talks with a US delegation led by special envoy John Cole, proposed expanding the agenda to include the war in the Middle East and broader global issues, the BelTA news agency reported.
“I would strongly urge that we discuss regional issues — not only the situation in Ukraine, but also global matters. And not only the war in the Middle East,” Lukashenko said.
“I believe my perspective on global issues, especially the situation in the Middle East, will be important for you, since you are waging a war against our friends. I am ready to speak frankly on this topic,” he added.
In response to a clarifying question from Cole on whether he was referring to a war with Iran, Lukashenko confirmed the point.
“Yes. I would very much like you to convey my position to Donald Trump. Despite certain mistakes, as I see it, by the United States, I remain a supporter of your president,” Lukashenko stated.
