Belarus registers first crypto banks

Belarus has registered its first crypto banks as the country moves to establish a legal framework for financial institutions operating with digital assets, BelTA reports.

The development was announced at a meeting of the supervisory board of the Hi-Tech Park (HTP), chaired by Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin. The meeting focused on implementing the presidential decree regulating the activities of crypto banks.

The initiative to establish crypto banks received the backing of President Aleksandr Lukashenko in September 2025. At the time, he called for broader use of cryptocurrencies in the country.

National Bank Chairman Roman Golovchenko previously said that major foreign financial institutions had expressed interest in establishing crypto banks in Belarus.

The Hi-Tech Park operates under a special legal regime that permits transactions involving digital assets.
