Belarus security chief says foreign forces plan to destabilise situation across country
Belarus State Security Committee Chairman Ivan Tertel has predicted a significant escalation of the situation along the perimeter and inside the country.
He made the statement while talking to journalists after a meeting with President Alexsander Lukashenko, BelTA reports.
The escalation is linked with the combat operations in the southern direction and with the attempts to destabilise the situation inside the country, said the KGB chief.
"These are primarily centres abroad that are planning these activities with the support of direct handlers, including foreign intelligence services. Several such serious actions are planned on our territory," Tertel said.
According to him, in these circumstances, Lukashenko ordered the KGB to report proposals on how to respond to "all these challenges".
