Belarus suspends Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has signed the law on suspension of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE).
"Suspend the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe of 19 November 1990," reads the law of 24 May, released on May 29, Caliber.Az reports, citing the document of the Belarus National Legal Portal.
It is worth noting that this treaty was ratified by Belarus and entered into force in 1992.
The treaty provided for limiting the aggregate levels of conventional armaments and equipment into five main categories:
- tanks;
- armoured combat vehicles;
- artillery;
- attack helicopters;
- combat aircraft.
