Belarus to legalise parallel import

Parallel import will be legalised in Belarus.

“The decision of formalising a draft legislative act envisaging the legalisation of parallel import of goods, as well as using software and other objects in the digital sphere without the copyright holders’ permission, was made by the operational headquarters under the Council of Ministers,” Interfax reports referring to the government of Belarus.

 “Thus, the original goods will be imported not only by the owners of the intellectual property, or their official distributors but also by any importers,” the government said.

“This temporary measure is aimed at preventing a shortage of imported goods and saturating the consumer market,” the government explained in a statement.
