Belarusian observer arrives in Armenia ahead of parliamentary elections
International observers from member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have begun arriving in Armenia to monitor the country's parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7.
A delegation from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly will take part in overseeing the electoral process at the invitation of the Armenian authorities, Caliber.Az reports via Belarusian media.
Among the observers is Belarusian lawmaker Garik Barsamyan, who has already arrived in Yerevan. As part of a short-term monitoring mission, Barsamyan is expected to assess preparations for the election campaign and observe the final stages of the electoral process. His programme also includes visits to polling stations and meetings with fellow parliamentarians from participating countries.
The observation mission will include senators, members of parliament and election experts from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.
