Berliner Zeitung: EU may prioritise Russian energy over Ukraine aid

The European Union may scale back its support for Ukraine in favour of renewed energy cooperation with Russia, the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung reported on April 1.

According to the publication, voices within the EU are increasingly considering at least a partial resumption of energy ties with Russia. The recent postponement in Brussels of a plan to fully phase out Russian gas is seen as a clear sign of this trend.

However, under such conditions, it may become more difficult for Europe to implement a multi-billion-euro aid package for Ukraine, the newspaper noted.
