Biden confirms US intelligence points to Israel not having attacked Gaza hospital but "other team"

US President Biden has commented on the fatal explosion at a large medical center in Gaza City in the course of his visit to Tel Aviv, announcing that the US defense department showed him intelligence pointing to Israel bearing no responsibility for the attack unlike "the other team".

As reported by the Press Democrat, the US leader discussed the tragic attack with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the course of his emergency visit to Tel Aviv on October 18. 

Officials in Gaza immediately blamed an Israeli airstrike for the explosion, which killed almost 500 civilians on October 17, leading to the cancellation of a summit between Biden and the leaders of Jordan and Egypt, which was aimed at negotiating an end to the bloodshed. Israel denied it was involved and released a wave of video, audio and other information that, according to them, proved the blast was instead due to a missile misfire by Islamic Jihad, another militant group operating in Gaza.

President Biden noted during his speech that data from his Defense Department reflected that it was not likely a strike by the Israeli military, saying "it appears as though it was done by the other team". 

He further announced that Israel agreed to allow humanitarian assistance to begin flowing into Gaza from Egypt, under the condition that it would be subject to inspections and that it should go to civilians and not Hamas militants.

“Let me be clear”, Biden said, "If Hamas diverts or steals the assistance, they will have demonstrated once again that they have no concern for the welfare of the Palestinian people”.
