12 April 2026 09:24
Public dissatisfaction with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has reached a new record level of 70% amid rising fuel prices, according to an INSA research institute poll cited by Bild.
Only 21% of respondents said they positively assessed the head of government’s performance, marking an all-time low approval rating, while 9% remained undecided.
“Even supporters of the governing parties are largely dissatisfied with the government,” INSA head Hermann Binkert said, summarising the findings.
In party rankings, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) leads with 26%, followed by the CDU/CSU bloc with 25%.
