Bild: Germany to produce Ukrainian-developed weapons
Germany plans to expand military cooperation with Kyiv and establish production of weapons developed in Ukraine on German territory.
Berlin will host a representative office of the Ukrainian defense industry and launch new joint projects for the development and production of arms, according to a document obtained by the German newspaper Bild.
Plans include integrating Ukraine’s defense sector into the broader European market and creating a large procurement alliance with partners to supply Kyiv.
Bild notes that, in the medium term, German-Ukrainian weapons are expected to be deployed on the front lines and that the German army will also receive them.
The two sides also intend to establish a permanent channel for sharing information on the frontline, including practical experience with the use of German technologies in Ukraine.
Germany has become one of Ukraine’s largest military supporters since Russia’s full‑scale invasion in 2022, providing extensive arms, including tanks, air defence systems like IRIS‑T and Patriot, artillery, and ammunition, while also training thousands of Ukrainian soldiers.
Berlin has significantly financed Ukraine’s defence sector, committing billions of euros to supply weapons and support joint production and maintenance efforts, aiming to strengthen Ukraine’s independent production capacity and sustain long‑term security.
Germany remains a leading provider of military aid to Kyiv, participating in NATO’s Ramstein defence contact group, co‑leading initiatives to enhance Ukraine’s electronic warfare, and committing to additional air defence and long‑range systems.
