China warns of risks in US ties, urges action to ease tensions

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has acknowledged persistent risks and challenges in relations with the United States, while stressing that improving bilateral ties serves the interests of both countries.

Wang made the remarks during a meeting with US Ambassador to China David Perdue, according to a statement released by China’s Foreign Ministry.

He called on Beijing and Washington to implement agreements reached by their leaders, effectively manage differences, and remove obstacles to high-level exchanges.

The meeting came amid threats from Washington to impose sanctions on countries and entities trading with Iran. China, meanwhile, remains the largest buyer of Iranian oil.
