BlackRock chief joins US team on Ukraine, officials say
Larry Fink, the chief executive of US investment giant BlackRock, has joined the United States team working on a settlement to the war in Ukraine, according to American officials.
Speaking on January 22, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steven Witkoff, said Fink was advising the administration on economic issues linked to ending the conflict and rebuilding Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
“We are constantly talking about the importance of prosperity, and of course, we have, in my view, a best-in-class adviser on these matters – Larry Fink,” Witkoff was quoted as saying by the Russian business daily Vedomosti.
Witkoff stressed that Fink was involved voluntarily and was providing advice on Ukraine’s post-war economic recovery rather than holding any formal government role.
Earlier on Thursday, a Ukrainian delegation met representatives of BlackRock on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Ukraine’s national security council secretary, Rustem Umerov, said the company was taking part in discussions on plans for the country’s reconstruction.
