Bloomberg: UAE, Qatar seek to persuade US to scale back Iran operation

The United Arab Emirates and Qatar are reportedly seeking to form a coalition of like-minded states to persuade the United States to reduce its military operation against Iran, according to Bloomberg citing sources.

The report states that both countries are privately lobbying allies to encourage President Donald Trump to consider a compromise that would shorten the duration of US military actions.

Sources note that the UAE and Qatar aim to “build a wide coalition” to achieve a swift diplomatic resolution to the conflict, while simultaneously working to strengthen their air defence systems.
