Bloomberg: UK supplies Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine
The British government has recently delivered a new batch of Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine to enable Kyiv to continue its long-range strike campaign against Russian territory.
According to the sources, an undisclosed number of missiles was supplied to ensure that Ukraine maintains sufficient stockpiles ahead of the winter months, during which London fears the Kremlin may intensify its attacks on the country, Bloomberg reports.
Facing mounting sanctions pressure, Russia’s economy is struggling to sustain its war effort, while the UK and its allies seek to demonstrate that Western backing for Ukraine will endure longer than Moscow’s resilience.
The latest British delivery of Storm Shadow missiles comes as U.S. President Donald Trump once again ruled out sending Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv. The UK-supplied long-range weapons have been instrumental in helping Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s forces strike deep inside Russian territory — including an October attack on a Russian chemical plant, according to Ukraine’s military.
Storm Shadow missiles are precision-guided, air-launched weapons with a range exceeding 250 kilometres (155 miles).
They travel at low altitude and high speed, using a mix of inertial navigation, GPS, and terrain-reference systems, according to the manufacturer MBDA.
London has not disclosed how many Storm Shadows it has supplied to Ukraine and rarely announces specific transfers.
