Bloomberg: Ukraine becomes global hub for combat drone production
Ukraine has rapidly strengthened its position in the drone market, becoming one of the world’s leaders in unmanned aerial systems production.
According to Bloomberg, in a short period, Ukraine’s defence industry has transformed the drone sector into a strategically important field.
Currently, the country produces around 4 million drones of various types each year — from FPV models to long-range strike systems.
For comparison, the United States produces approximately 100,000 units annually. This gap highlights the effectiveness of Ukraine’s approach, which is based on flexibility, speed, and constant innovation.
Several companies are already expanding their presence in Europe. For example, Skyeton has opened a facility in Slovakia, attracting over €10 million in investment.
FlyWell is preparing joint production with Finland’s Summa Defence, while Fire Point has received support from Denmark to develop rocket fuel for Flamingo cruise systems.
Shifting part of production abroad enhances logistics resilience and provides access to Western financing, though it requires compliance with stricter EU regulations.
At the same time, Ukrainian technologies, tested in real combat conditions, are attracting attention for their low cost, ease of maintenance, and ability to be rapidly restored.
