Bomb threat triggers mass evacuation at Czech hospital

Police began evacuating a hospital in the town of Hořovice in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic on Thursday morning, September 17, after receiving an anonymous report of a bomb planted inside the facility, Novinky reports, citing official sources.

The evacuation affected around 400 patients and staff members. While the hospital was being searched, patients were moved to a local community centre.

Police canine teams with three dogs and explosives experts were deployed to the hospital as part of the operation. Nine ambulance crews, two medical helicopters, two evacuation vehicles from Prague and special buses operated by the fire service were also involved.

The Central Bohemian emergency medical service cancelled scheduled training exercises and sent all available crews to the hospital as a precaution.
