Brazil calls Israel's decision absurd
Special representative of the Brazilian president on international affairs Celso Amorim called absurd the decision of Israel to declare the president of the republic Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva persona non grata.
As TASS reports, this step by the government of the Jewish state will lead to even greater isolation.
"This is absurd. It will only increase Israel's isolation. They want to see Lula da Silva all over the world, and at the moment it is Israel that is persona non grata," G1 portal quoted the adviser as saying.
Amorim emphasized that he expressed his personal opinion and has not yet discussed the situation with the president.
On February 19, Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz declared the Brazilian president persona non grata until he apologizes and refuses to compare Israel with Hitler's Germany.
