BRICS backs stronger role for women in peace, security agenda
BRICS foreign ministers have endorsed efforts to expand the role of women in peace and security processes, stressing the need for full, equal and meaningful participation in decision-making at all levels.
Meeting in New Delhi, ministers reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the Women, Peace and Security agenda, according to a statement issued by India, which currently holds the group’s rotating presidency, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The declaration underlined the importance of women’s involvement across the full spectrum of peace-related activities, including conflict prevention and resolution, humanitarian assistance, mediation, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, and post-conflict recovery.
The ministers said inclusive participation was essential to strengthening the effectiveness and sustainability of peace and security efforts.
