British Intelligence: Russian troops failed to advance near Sieverodonetsk and Popasna
Russian troops failed to advance near Sieverodonetsk and Popasna. Izyum may become the new direction of the strike.
According to Caliber.Az, this is stated in British Intelligence's latest update on the situation in Ukraine published by the British Ministry of Defence.

According to the report, Ukrainian forces recaptured parts of Sieverodonetsk last weekend, although Russian forces likely continue to occupy eastern districts. Russia's broader plan is probably still to cut off the Sieverodonetsk area from both the north and the south.
Russia made gains in the southern, Popasna area during May, but its advance in the area stalled last week. "Reports of heavy artillery fire near Izyum suggest that Russia is preparing to make a renewed effort on the northern axis," the British Defence Ministry said.
Russia will almost certainly need to achieve a breakthrough in at least one of these axes in order to translate tactical gains to operational-level success and advance toward its political objective of controlling all of Donetsk Oblast, British Intelligence noted.
