US, China hold talks on contentious trade issues in Madrid

The U.S. and Chinese delegations began a new round of talks in Madrid on Sunday, focusing on contentious trade issues, tariffs, and export restrictions.

According to the EFE news agency, the U.S. delegation is led by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, while the Chinese delegation is headed by Vice Premier of the State Council of China, He Lifeng.

The delegations are expected to remain in Spain until September 17.

Previously, the two sides held three rounds of negotiations in Geneva, London, and Stockholm.
