The ship’s master confirmed that all crew members are safe and that the vessel is continuing its planned voyage.
According to initial accounts, the ship was approached and chased by several smaller boats, which opened fire. Private security firm Diaplous Group stated that the bulk carrier was attacked twice and that armed guards on board returned fire during the encounters. The company also reported that no injuries occurred.
Authorities are investigating the incident. Ships transiting the area are advised to proceed with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO.
