British parliament expects "major attack" by Ukraine in Donbas in upcoming days
Tobias Ellwood, Chairman of the UK parliament’s Defence Committee, has said that a "major attack" by Ukraine should be expected in Donbas in the next few days.
"In the next few days we should anticipate a major attack in one part of the Donbas or another," Sky News quotes Ellwood as saying.
Tobias Ellwood said the Ukrainian army was undertaking "probing and shaping operations" and "the main front of the Ukrainian capability still in reserves ready for that singular attack".
"The Russians don't know where that's going to be but we're seeing chaos ensue between the Wagner Group and the Russian forces themselves," he said.
According to him, the Kakhovka dam explosion showed Vladimir Putin "did not even have faith in being able to hold that dam".
However, he urged "caution" to anyone assuming Ukraine will "charge in" and "it will all be over very quickly".
Ellwood, a former defence minister, called on allies to provide more tanks, F16 fighter jets and long-range missiles.
Given the first losses during the counteroffensive, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk asks for more German-made tanks.
