British PM: UK ensures Grok chatbot complies with national law
The UK is working to ensure that the Grok chatbot complies with national laws, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said.
PM stated that he has been briefed on measures by Elon Musk's X to make sure its AI chatbot, Grok, adheres to UK regulations, particularly regarding the creation of sexualised deepfakes, Caliber.Az reports via British media.
"We will take the necessary measures. We will strengthen existing laws and prepare for legislation if it needs to go further, and Ofcom will continue its independent investigation,” he added.
On January 10, reports indicated that UK authorities could take action against social network X, including a potential ban, over AI-generated images produced by the Grok chatbot.
The controversy centres on explicit depictions of women and children created by the chatbot in response to user prompts.
