British PM: Ukraine can repel Russian troops this year, as Zelenskyy plans

30 June 2022 17:53

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson has said that the Ukrainian government has a realistic plan to change the war's dynamic.

He made the statement in Madrid on June 30, European Pravda informs.

"The reason I went to Ukraine shortly before the summit began, I wanted to get the real feel for where President Zelenskyy and his administration were, how they saw things going," Johnson said.

The British prime minister agreed with the need to supply Ukraine with new weapons: "They do see a way in which they can change the dynamic this year, in the next few months. We have to help them as much as we can. They have shown they can resist and can show the amazing, amazing ability to fight back. I think the most interesting recent development has been the MLRS multi-launch rocket system. It has been going to Ukraine."

"And I am told the Ukrainian troops are proving very adept in using them. The Ukrainian troops are heroic as they are getting the maximum value out of the stuff we are able to send," he added.

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky called on world leaders at the G7 summit to do everything possible to stop Russia's invasion of Ukraine by the end of the year.

“We think they have it in their power to repeal the Russians back to the pre-February 24 positions. That is certainly what Volodymyr Zelenskyy sees as a plan. The Western powers should be offering deterrence by denial. So that we fortify Ukraine with NATO-grade weaponry, plus intelligence, plus no future attack is conceivable,” Johnson added.
