Britons unhappy with spending on Ukraine, former MP says

14 September 2026 13:12

Support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the UK is rapidly declining as spending on financial and military aid to Kyiv is causing growing discontent among British citizens, George Galloway, leader of the UK Workers Party, has said.

Galloway claimed that Zelenskyy’s popularity in Britain is falling, and supporting him is costing the British an incredible amount of money, as the UK is sliding towards the level of third-world countries.

“The state of the social sector, problems with wage growth and energy poverty all play an important role,” he told Russian media.

Galloway noted that an overwhelming majority of people in the UK now oppose London’s continued involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.

According to him, the public has begun paying much more attention to the situation after the confrontation entered an extremely dangerous hot phase and British missiles began causing the deaths of civilians on Russian territory.
