Bulgaria eyes stronger US ties with focus on political leadership, PM says
Bulgaria is committed to strengthening its strategic ties with the United States, emphasizing political leadership as a key priority in future relations, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said.
In an interview with Bulgarian media, Zhelyazkov underscored the importance of both bilateral and multilateral partnerships, particularly with NATO, in defending shared democratic values and ensuring economic success, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
He highlighted the strategic significance of Bulgaria's ongoing cooperation with the US, noting that it should serve as a foundation for mutual development and security.
"Our government has had the opportunity to work with US President Donald Trump for four years. I assure you that the word ‘work’ holds more weight than merely referring to a ‘strategic partnership’ in rhetoric," Zhelyazkov stated.
He stressed that political leadership would be central to the future of Bulgaria’s relationship with the US, which will be built on concrete actions and shared objectives.
Bulgaria’s emphasis on bolstering ties with the US aligns with its broader foreign policy goals, which include fostering stronger defence, economic, and diplomatic relationships within the transatlantic alliance.
