Bundeswehr must be ready for combat at any moment, says Merz

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has called for further development of the Bundeswehr’s military capabilities, stressing that the armed forces must be ready for defence and deterrence “already now.”

He made the remarks during his visit to German troops in Münster, where he acknowledged progress in the Bundeswehr’s modernisation but urged faster efforts to strengthen defence readiness and deterrence capabilities, Caliber.Az reports via German media.

“The entire Bundeswehr is going through a period of fundamental transformation. We must be ready for deterrence and defence today, capable of ‘Fight Tonight’,” Merz said.
