Bus crash in southern Mexico claims 18 lives, injures 29
At least 18 people have died and 29 others have been injured following a tragic bus crash in southern Mexico, authorities in the state of Oaxaca reported on March 10.
The bus, which was carrying over 40 passengers, flipped over just outside the town of Santo Domingo Narro, though the cause of the accident remains under investigation, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Oaxaca's Governor, Salomon Jara, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, offering support during this difficult time. "I extend my heartfelt condolences to the victims' families, to whom we will provide the necessary support and assistance," Jara wrote on social media.
In an interview with local radio later that day, the state's Interior Minister, Jesus Romero, stated that the bus was travelling to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in the southern part of Mexico.
It appears the passengers were returning home after attending a rally in Mexico City, held the previous day by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
