Caliber.Az political columnist delivers lecture to Ukrainian students PHOTO

Orkhan Amashov, Azerbaijani journalist and political observer of Caliber.Az, delivered a lecture to Ukrainian students of the International Journalism Department of Kyiv University named after Boris Grinchenko.

The online meeting was devoted to the implementation of international media communications under the conditions of war and information blockade, Caliber.Az reports. The meeting was moderated and initiated by journalist Maryna Honcharuk, curator of Ukrainian-Azerbaijani projects.

The event was opened by Associate Professor of the International Journalism Department, Ph.D. in Social Communications Angelika Dosenko, who noted the importance of the development of Ukrainian-Azerbaijani dialogue and communication of Ukrainian teachers, students with foreign speakers, in particular, from friendly Azerbaijan, which is one of the strategic partners of Ukraine. According to her, relations between Ukraine and the Turkic world are developing; therefore, information on media processes in Azerbaijan and cooperation between our countries in journalism is interesting and useful for students of the International Journalism Department.

Moderator Maryna Honcharuk emphasised that Azerbaijan's experience in the organisation of international communications under conditions of war, including information, is important for Ukraine and future Ukrainian journalists.

Orkhan Amashov spoke about the importance of conveying historical truth and reality to the international community, including in the conditions of misinformation on international platforms by the aggressor country. He noted that the world should be more principled and consistent with international law and the territorial integrity of states and prevent attempts to justify the occupation policy. The Azerbaijani journalist and expert also shared information about trends in Azerbaijani journalism and how cooperation with colleagues from other countries is taking place. Besides, Orkhan Amashov advised the Ukrainian students of international journalism to focus on the subjects they would like to raise in order to be interesting for the Azerbaijani media. After the lecture, the speaker answered questions from students and lecturers.

The online meeting was also attended by Maxim Karas, Ph.D. in Philology, Associate Professor, Vitaliy Tereshchuk, Ph.D. in Political Science, and university students.
