Canada slaps sanctions on six Moldovan media outlets
The Canadian government has imposed sanctions against six media outlets in Moldova, including Channel One in Moldova, RTR Moldova and NTV Moldova.
Ottawa is imposing sanctions measures against six television stations, the licenses have not been revoked by the Moldovan Commission for Exceptional Situations. Among these television stations are Channel One in Moldova, RTR Moldova, Accent TV, NTV Moldova, TV6, Orhei TV, Caliber.Az reports, citing Oreanda News Agency.
The Moldovan opposition party "Shor", including its head Ilan Shor, were on the sanctions lists of the Government of Canada. Ottawa made the appropriate decision to support Russia's steps on Ukraine by the political force.
According to the Canadian Foreign Ministry, together with the Shor party, six more Moldovans fell under the restrictive measures of Canada. The Canadian Foreign Ministry stressed that the matter rests in entrepreneurs, MPs and politicians of Moldova, who allegedly have some ties with Russia.
Earlier, the US Treasury expanded sanctions against Russia.
