Car set on fire outside Türkiye’s parliament in Ankara Video
A white Toros car was set on fire outside the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) on İnönü Boulevard in the Çankaya district of Ankara.
The incident occurred shortly before a parliamentary commission session on “Türkiye without terror,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
Police in Ankara identified the suspect as a man with the initials M.E.F., a resident of Mersin. Authorities said he has a history of psychological disorders and multiple prior convictions. Investigators confirmed that he acted alone.
Fire crews were dispatched immediately, and the blaze was quickly extinguished. There were no injuries or significant damage to the surrounding area, though the car was severely damaged.
The suspect has been taken into police custody for questioning, and an investigation has been opened into arson and public safety threats.
The incident drew attention due to the symbolic significance of the “white Toros” in Türkiye. In the 1990s, this car model was widely associated with intelligence services.
Police emphasised that parliamentary operations were not affected by the attack.
